Chocolate Chip Lava Cookies

Tonight we are getting together with some other lovers of the Lord to have dinner, sing unto the Lord and enjoy the riches in the Bible! I’m bringing dessert so where else would I turn but to my cousin’s blog Lovin’ From the Oven. I saw one recipe I wanted to try out so here it is!

Melted chocolate chips in the middle!

I had to taste it of course, before serving it to everyone else! What a bite of chocolate! Only thing missing? Ice cream of course! I’ll pick that up on my way to our “party!” It still gave me a sugar rush even though I cut the sugar by 1/4. Oh, and I didn’t use butter and used white whole wheat flour so I can’t even imagine what it would taste like with butter and white flour and all the sugar! I’ll stick with this version for my health’s sake and others. It’s still good, especially if you top it with ice cream!!! You can get the recipe here.

Here are my substitutions for this batch:

1/2 cup of butter – 1/4 cup of applesauce & 1/4 cup of canola oil

1/2 cup of sugar – 1/4 cup of sugar

1 3/4 cup all purpose flour – 1 3/4 cup white whole wheat flour

What defines, explains, and expresses God?

I was reading John 1:1 today and was struck with the utterance John uses. He says “the Word.” He doesn’t say Jesus, Christ, the Lord or any combination of the three but uses “the Word.” The definition for word I pulled up from Dictionary.com is a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation, that functions as a principal carrier of meaning or an expression or utterance. Or you could say words define things, explain things. Therefore, John uses “the Word” because “the Word” defines, explains and expresses God! God is defined, explained and expressed by Christ who is “the Word” (Rev. 19:13). So, if I want to know who God is then I just to need to know Christ because He is the Word who defines, explains and expresses God. I need to read the Bible, the Word of God and take some time to just be with Him alone and I can know God. What a thought!
