What defines, explains, and expresses God?

I was reading John 1:1 today and was struck with the utterance John uses. He says “the Word.” He doesn’t say Jesus, Christ, the Lord or any combination of the three but uses “the Word.” The definition for word I pulled up from Dictionary.com is a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation, that functions as a principal carrier of meaning or an expression¬†or utterance. Or you could say words define things, explain things. Therefore, John uses “the Word” because “the Word” defines, explains and expresses God! God is defined, explained and expressed by Christ who is “the Word” (Rev. 19:13). So, if I want to know who God is then I just to need to know Christ because He is the Word who defines, explains and expresses God. I need to read the Bible, the Word of God and take some time to just be with Him alone and I can know God. What a thought!
